    Insurance Corporation of Afghanistan (ICA) was established in 2007 in response to the demand for an officially licensed and capitalised private multi-line insurance company, meeting the insurance needs of companies operating in this country. ICA offers a comprehensive range of cost-effective commercial insurance solutions, providing business risk protection for multi-national and Afghan companies in all key industry sectors. ICA has reinsurance backing using only major ‘A’ security rated International re-insurance markets including Lloyd’s of London, providing access to global expertise and superior claims capacity. As of December, 2016, we had provided clients with in excess of US$40bn insurance coverage, a total that increases daily. Our highly experienced team of international insurance professionals, along with qualified Afghan graduates, is available from Sunday to Thursday to discuss and give advice concerning the protection of business risks in Afghanistan, as well as throughout the South Asia region.
  • ICA operates from its office headquarters in Kabul and has a highly qualified team of international and Afghan professionals totaling 60 personnel.

    The insurance industry has been identified as a key sector of importance by the recently elected National Unity Government of Afghanistan. ICA stands ready to play its part in supporting economic investment and growth initiatives in the private and public sector. The company continues to see high demand for insurance products originating from the domestic market and overseas clients during 2015-2016 and into 2017.

    ICA is proud to continue membership support of the Afghanistan Insurance Personnel Association (AIPA).

    The AIPA was established in 2013 to meet the needs of the growing insurance sector and to collectively represent the interests of the insurance community. It aims to serve as the voice of the insurance companies and the sector in dialogues and consultations with the Afghanistan Insurance Authority (AIA) - the Insurance Regulator, businesses, individuals, government ministries and other stakeholders – internal and external.

    AIPA receives support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Financial Access for Investing in the Development of Afghanistan (FAIDA) project.

    Companies and organizations operating or doing business in Afghanistan should be aware that direct purchase of insurance from an overseas insurance company, not holding an insurance license issued by the Afghanistan Ministry of Finance, is illegal under Afghan law and punitive actions will be taken by the authorities for breach of law.
